PHILADELPHIA, PA (11/07/2011)(readMedia)-- Dr. Dana Zambito has been named assistant professor of biology at University of the Sciences.
Prior to her position at USciences, Dr. Zambito taught students the importance of dairy product nutrition at Pennsylvania State University. In addition, she taught quantitative and qualitative analytical tests for the identification of the unknown compounds and gel electrophoresis techniques to students at Arcadia University.
In 2006, she received a National Institutes of Health (NIH) pre-doctoral fellowship. Then in 2008, she received a Susan G. Komen postdoctoral fellowship for her work at Fox Chase Cancer Center. The research that took place at Fox Chase was focused on benign breast disease. The purpose of this research was to determine if there are certain protein biomarkers that are more likely to be expressed in benign breast lesions.
Dr. Zambito is a part of many professional memberships including the International Society for Stem Cell Research, American Dairy Science Association, and The Endocrine Society. She received her bachelor's in biology from the University of Delaware in 2000, and completed her PhD in physiology within the Department of Dairy and Animal Science at the Pennsylvania State University in 2007.
Dr. Zambito currently resides in Abington, PA with her husband, Frank and daughter, Cecilia.
