EASTON, MA (09/21/2009)(readMedia)-- Activist, author and director Jen Marlowe will visit Stonehill on Wednesday, Sept. 30 for a talk entitled "Art as Activism." Marlowe will discuss the power of art to change the world in the Martin Institute, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Marlowe traveled to Northern Darfur and Eastern Chad to make the documentary film "Darfur Diaries: Message from Home" and wrote the accompanying book "Darfur Diaries: Stories of Survival."
She is also writing a book about Palestine and Israel and is on the board of directors of Friends of the Jenin Freedom Theatre and is directing the documentary "Rebuilding Hope," a film about Sudan.
Marlowe has experience coordinating conflict transformation programs in Jerusalem and implemented co-existence programs for youth in Palestine and Israel. She also worked with youth in Afghanistan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, India, Pakistan, Turkish and Greek Cypriot.
