Activists to Sleep Outside Gracie Mansion, Demand Mayor Protect and House Homeless New Yorkers Now!

NEW YORK, NY (07/21/2021) (readMedia)-- In solidarity with #JulyHomelessRights Month, local activists will stage a sleep-out until the in front of Gracie Mansion, at 86th and East End in Carl Schurz park. Activists are waiting to hear an answer from the mayor after he promised to look into immediate implementation of Intro 146 last Friday on the Brian Lehrer show, and report his answer this week. They intend on staying through the "Ask the Mayor" segment on Friday morning. Shams DaBaron, aka "Da Homeless Hero" will stop by for a rally before the event, thanking the activists for their allyship. Other activists will speak on their experiences combating housing injustice through community care.
