Adria Horn Named as New Director of the Maine Bureau of Veterans Services

AUGUSTA, ME (02/13/2015)(readMedia)-- The Adjutant General and Commissioner of the Department of Defense, Veterans and Emergency Management announced today that Ms. Adria O. Horn has been selected to replace Mr. Peter W. Ogden as the Director of the Maine Bureau of Veterans' Services.

Horn will begin working with Ogden for the transition and officially take over the position after Ogden's scheduled retirement in June.

Horn, a West Point graduate, currently serves as a US Army Reservist with US Pacific Command. She has deployed in support of the Global War on Terror five times in her 14-year career. She will be leaving the office of Senator Susan Collins where she served as a State Staff Member.

The Commissioner, Brigadier General Campbell said, "We are very pleased that Ms. Horn has agreed to take on this important and challenging duty for our state. She is highly qualified and is exactly the right person to take over the Bureau at this time. Mr. Ogden has served our Veterans and their families for many years in a selfless and exemplary manner – as he transitions to his planned and well-deserved retirement, we wish him and his family well and thank them for their dedicated service and many sacrifices."

Ogden served both the active Army and Maine Army National Guard over a span of 28 years. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the Maine Army National Guard. Ogden served two combat tours in Vietnam and was appointed as the Director of the Maine Bureau of Veterans' Services in 2004.
