WHAT: Female high school students from around the nation will visit the historic Waterford Locks of the Erie Canal as part of an engineering program at Union College in Schenectady.

WHERE: Lock 2, Waterford, Saratoga County (Directions below)

WHEN: 3:30 p.m., Monday, July 18, 2011.

WHO: Young women with an interest in engineering attend a two-week residential program at Union College, EDGE (Educating Girls in Engineering). They will be joined at Lock 2 by engineers from the New York State Canal Corporation.

Directions to Lock 2: Take Route 787 north to the end in Cohoes. Turn right on Route 32 North (Saratoga Avenue); travel 1.5 miles. Make a hard right turn at Fifth Street. Follow the signs for Lock E-2. alongside old canal.
