Advocates Urge Presidential Candidates to Address Overdose Epidemic

Trail of Truth Calls for Focus on National Crisis at Presidential Debate

BINGHAMTON, NY (09/10/2024) (readMedia)-- On Tuesday September 10, 2024, 20 plus family members and advocates will perform a poignant visual demonstration painting tombstones representing lives lost to overdose death and fentanyl poisoning near the Presidential Debate calling on candidates to focus on the Nation's ongoing overdose and addiction crisis.

WHO:

Trail of Truth, spearheaded by Truth Pharm, a 501(c)(3) organization, and supported by 95 national partners including the Drug Policy Alliance. This initiative focuses on immediate access to treatment, ending discrimination, barrier-free access to naloxone, and responsible spending of settlement funds. It emphasizes care over punishment.

WHAT:

 A poignant visual demonstration featuring 20 individuals personally impacted by drug overdose deaths. Participants will spend four hours painting tombstones to memorialize loved ones lost to overdose and other substance use related deaths. This action aims to highlight the fatal consequences of inaction and mismanagement of opioid settlement funding. The event also includes a call to action for Presidential candidates to commit to a sensible opioid settlement spending pledge.
