AIKEN, SC (01/24/2018) In addition to prepping for the debut of the University of South Carolina Aiken's new Steinway piano during the annual Winter Nocturne concert, the featured pianist took time to conduct master classes for students from Aiken, Augusta and Columbia.

On Jan. 27, at 7 p.m., in the Etherredge Center, Petronel Malan of South Africa will be the first pianist to perform on USC Aiken's new grand piano.

Just days before the big event, on the Etherredge Center Main Stage, she conducted individual lessons for piano students of all ages, ranging from 4th grade to graduate school. Students who had the unique opportunity to play for and learn from an artist of Malan's caliber included music majors from USC Aiken, Augusta University and USC Columbia.

Tickets for the concert are $20 and are still available, by calling (803) 641-3305. All students are admitted free.
