ALBANY, NY (09/03/2009)(readMedia)-- In leiu of the latest shootings and issues with the Albany Police Department, Pastor Charlie Muller is looking for city, community, business, local & state involvement in stepping up to back the successful anti-gun program he initiated last year. This successful program, which ran strong from June last year to June this year, caused statistics for gun shootings and deaths to go down significantly.
Due to lack of funding for the program, Pastor Charlie is trying to secure funds from city and local agencies at this time. He will be kicking off an extensive advertising outreach that will tag the city of Albany and all outlying areas through which he will not only take in guns, but will be setting up gun- free zones with posted listings of what violations for carrying a gun will be.
If we don't keep successful programs funded, problems soon begin to resurface. Pastor Charlie wants to make sure all the good that has been accomplished through this program is not lost. He is looking to the mayor and city police departments to step up to help.
A press conference will be held at Victory Church on Friday, September 4th at 9:30am in which John Pikus of the FBI, Albany County District Attorney's Office, the Albany County Sheriff's Department, and members of the Albany County Legislative Body will be attending. The Albany Police Department and Mayor's Office have also been invited.
