DURHAM, NH (05/04/2012)(readMedia)-- Alexander Freid '13 of Lee has been named one of the 80 students nationwide to receive an annual scholarship from the Udall Foundation, given to college sophomores and juniors committed to careers related to the environment. The winners, chosen from a pool of 585 applicants, also receive funding to participate in a four-day environmental conference in Tucson, Arizon in August.
Freid is the founder of Trash 2 Treasure at UNH, a program that collects "trash" from students moving out of housing (sofas, tables etc.) and then resells at the beginning of the next semester to incoming students, helping to reduce UNH's impact on landfills.
