STAUNTON, VA (03/27/2014)(readMedia)-- The All Girl Conference is now accepting registrations for the 2014 Conference, to be held on Saturday, April 19th from 10am-4pm. This yearly event is designed to promote the positive development of teenaged girls. Middle and high school girls are encouraged to register for this event, which includes workshops, information booths, speakers and more!
With the help of area businesses and organizations, the Conference has served over 400 girls since 2008. Office on Youth, the local Health Department and local colleges are among the dozens of groups that take part in this event. Event Co-Sponsors, Staunton Parks & Recreation and DuPont Community Credit Union are also on hand with useful information for teenaged girls.
The benefit of the Conference extends past the one-day event says Conference Coordinator, Makeba Robinson. In addition to the resources that they receive that day, she says, "The Conference allows the girls to feel like they are a part of the community." She adds that she encourages the girls to help plan the Conference. "One of the participants designed the shirt for the 2014 Conference, and we have several girls who helped plan the theme, the lunch, and other aspects of the Conference." "A couple teen girls are even presenting workshops this year," she continues.
Breakfast, lunch, VIP bags & souvenir Conference t-shirts are provided for all who attend this FREE event.
Registration forms are available in school guidance offices, at Staunton Recreation Dept., and on the Conference Facebook page: www.facebook.com/empowergirls.
