All Pa. Turnpike Restrictions Lifted in State's Southeastern Region

HARRISBURG, PA (08/28/2011)(readMedia)-- The Pa. Turnpike Commission has lifted the reduced speed limit and trailer restrictions that were put in place last night in response to weather conditions created by Hurricane Irene. The Turnpike lowered the speed limit to 45 mph and banned certain types of trailers yesterday because of hazardous roadway conditions. Traffic is presently moving at or near posted speed limits with no incidents or accidents reported at this time.

The Commission says that two of its rest stops in the southeast are operating with limited services due to ongoing power outages. No food but limited fuel is available at the Peter J. Camiel Plaza, serving westbound travelers between the Downingtown and Morgantown exits. And diesel fuel is not available at the Lawn Plaza which serves westbound traffic between the Lebanon/Lancaster and Harrisburg East exits. Services are expected to be returned once power is restored. Restroom facilities are operable at both locations.
