Four Local Roads to Close Overnight for Turnpike Construction Work Next Week
Nighttime Detours in effect December 12-16 in Plymouth and Whitpain Townships, Montgomery County.
KING OF PRUSSIA, PA (12/10/2011)(readMedia)-- The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists that the demolition of four area bridges will begin next week where the Northeastern Extension (I-476) crosses over Jolly, Wentz, Hickory and Township Line Roads in Whitpain and Plymouth Townships. The roads will be closed to traffic in the vicinity of the overhead Turnpike bridges and a detour implemented during the overnight construction work. Signs have been posted to alert motorists of the closure and detour route. Times will vary by location.
• Monday (Dec. 12) Jolly Road will be closed 6 p.m. - 6 a.m. (between Arch Street and Union Meeting Road), Whitpain Township.
• Tuesday (Dec. 13) Wentz Road will be closed 6 p.m. - 6 a.m. (between Jolly Road and Cherry Lane), Whitpain Township.
• Wednesday (Dec. 14) Hickory Road will be closed from 6 p.m. - 6 a.m. (between Germantown Pike and Narcissa Road), Plymouth Township
• Township Line Road (between Arch St. Road and Union Meeting Road), Whitpain and Plymouth Townships, will be closed Thursday (Dec. 15) 8 p.m. - 6 a.m. and Friday (Dec. 16) 9 p.m. - 7 a.m.
Demolition of the bridges is part of the Turnpike's total reconstruction project now underway on the Northeastern Extension (I-476) between the Mid-County Interchange and Berks Road (milepost A26). The work is weather permitting and subject to change.
