CHESTERTOWN, MD (03/20/2014)(readMedia)-- Washington College is pleased to announce the recent induction of Allison Speight '14 of Saint Michaels, MD, into Phi Beta Kappa. Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest and most elite honor society in the United States. The society serves to recognize the power of a liberal arts education by acknowledging students that have achieved high levels of intellectual discipline and achievement.

Speight is majoring in environmental studies and minoring in biology and anthropology. On campus, she is the co-president of the Student Environmental Alliance and interns with the Center for Environment and Society's ShorePower project.

Founded in 1782 under the patronage of George Washington, Washington College is a private, independent college of liberal arts and sciences located in colonial Chestertown on Maryland's Eastern Shore.
