Aloha Native Receives Prestigious Faculty Award at St. Mary's College of Maryland

ST. MARY'S CITY, MD (06/18/2013)(readMedia)-- St. Mary's College of Maryland announces that Matthew Fehrs, native of Aloha, OR, was awarded the Homer L. Dodge Award for Excellence in Teaching by a Junior Faculty Member. This award recognizes excellence in teaching and service to the college.

Fehrs joined the St. Mary's College faculty in 2009. He holds a Ph.D. in political science from Duke University. In additional to teaching political science courses at St. Mary's College, Fehrs is co-director of the St. Mary's Washington Program, an alumni-mentored program that places political science and public policy students in internship positions in Washington, D.C.

St. Mary's College of Maryland, designated the Maryland state honors college in 1992, is ranked one of the best public liberal arts schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. More than 2,000 students attend the college, nestled on the St. Mary's River in Southern Maryland.
