GOWANDA, NY (05/14/2025) (readMedia)-- The New York State Association for Rural Health (NYSARH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Amanda Horner to the role of Project Coordinator. In this position, Amanda will collaborate with partner organizations to implement grant-funded initiatives that address rural mental and behavioral health challenges across New York State.
"We are thrilled to welcome Amanda to our team," said Ali Coates, President of the NYSARH Board of Directors. "Her unique combination of public health knowledge, research experience, and community-based program work makes her an ideal partner for the work ahead. NYSARH's mission is rooted in collaboration-and Amanda brings both the skills and the spirit to help move that mission forward."
Amanda brings a diverse background in health and human services, education, and technology to her new role. Most recently, she completed two consecutive AmeriCorps terms focused on delivering digital skills training to promote economic opportunity for teens and adults. Her previous research and professional work have spanned mental health, health literacy, and access to care. She earned her Master of Public Health from the University at Albany School of Public Health, where she also completed a continuing education training program called "Advancing Cultural Competency".
"I'm honored to join an organization as deeply committed to rural health equity as NYSARH," said Horner. "This role allows me to apply my passion for evidence-based programming, evaluation, and collaboration in ways that can directly improve lives in rural communities."
Amanda's early work in libraries, health insurance literacy, and community-based evaluation has helped shape a well-rounded perspective that's grounded in access, inclusion, and impact. NYSARH looks forward to the contributions she will bring to current and future projects supporting the health and wellbeing of rural New Yorkers.
