MILLERSVILLE, PA (05/16/2011)(readMedia)-- Millersville University of Pennsylvania student, Andre R. Brown, of Philadelphia, Pa., recently received the Hispanic College Fund Scholarship, sponsored by Google. This scholarship is offered to juniors or seniors of a Hispanic background, studying computer science or computer engineering.
Brown, who graduated from George Washington Carver High School of Engineering and Science, is a junior computer science major at Millersville University. Brown enjoys video games and researching and code programs. He was selected as someone who shows commitment to education, leadership and community service.
"The application process was a very difficult one," said Brown. "But when it came to writing the essay I just basically wrote what came natural from the heart and the essay pieced very well, like a puzzle you could say."
This is a $10,000 scholarship, in addition to an all-expense paid trip to Google Scholars' Retreat in California to visit Google's headquarters. The retreat includes workshops, speakers, breakout sessions and social activities. Students will have the opportunity to explore the Googleplex, meet Googlers and connect with other Google scholars.
