HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (03/28/2012)(readMedia)-- Andrew McNeal Stoddard, a junior at Hampden-Sydney College, has been chosen Editor-in-Chief of the student newspaper, The Hampden-Sydney Tiger, for the academic year 2012-2013. The Tiger, founded in 1919, reports on significant events on and around campus and provides an outlet for student writers and photographers and a public forum for student opinion.
A Patrick Henry Scholar, Andrew served as Associate Editor of The Tiger this year and was the recipient of the Outstanding Freshman Journalist Award at Final Convocation in April 2011. He is on the varsity cross country team and is a member of the Tiger Athletic Club and the International Club. A history major, Andrew is a graduate of Mills E. Godwin High School and is the son of Dan & Mary Stoddard of Richmond.
A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the needs of young men.
