Decio Andrade of Camacha, Portugal, a freshman on the Angelo State University track and field team, won the national title in the hammer throw at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Texas A&M-Kingsville.
Andrade threw the hammer 67.67 meters (222-0 feet) to win the event by over two and a half meters. He picked up 10 points for the Rams in the team standings and cemented first-team All-America status.
