Anita Daniels Named Acting Director of Rockland Children's Psychiatric Center
ALBANY, NY (09/25/2009)(readMedia)-- Michael F. Hogan, Ph.D., Commissioner of the Office of Mental Health today announced that Anita Daniels will serve as Acting Director of Rockland Children's Psychiatric Center.
"Throughout her more than twenty years of experience in inpatient mental health care, Ms. Daniels has demonstrated a terrific blend of sound clinical judgment and outstanding leadership skills. I am delighted that she has agreed to take on this new role within OMH, and I am confident that Rockland Children's Psychiatric Center will flourish," said Commissioner Hogan.
Immediately prior to today's appointment, Ms. Daniels served as Statewide Nursing Director for OMH and also as Deputy Director of Operations at Rockland Psychiatric Center, a position she has held for nearly seven years. During her tenure with OMH, she has held varied nursing positions including facility Director of Nursing, and facility Quality Assurance Coordinator.
A resident of Poughkeepsie, Ms. Daniels is a graduate of the Albany Medical Center School of Nursing. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and psychology from SUNY New Paltz, and a Master of Science degree in Family Health nursing from Mercy College. She is certified by the American Nurse Credentialing Center as a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse, and is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society and the American Psychiatric Nurses Association. She served as an adjunct lecturer at Mercy College, where she received the Undergraduate Faculty of the Year Award in 2006.
