SAINT PAUL, MN (12/20/2012)(readMedia)-- Bethel University junior Seth Mathis of Anoka was recently named to the 2012 All-American First Team by D3Football.com. Mathis was one of three Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) athletes and three linebackers selected to the first team when the list was released prior to the 2012 Stagg Bowl.
Mathis was chosen to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III Coaches' All-America Team earlier in December. He finished the season 25th in the nation with 120 total tackles, giving him an average of 10.9 per game, and moving him into the top three in Bethel University's record book for career tackles. Already a two-time All-MIAC player, he leads the Bethel Royals in interceptions.
