Southold Town Supervisor Praises ’Uniquely Qualified’ Candidate

MASTIC, NY (04/18/2008)(readMedia)-- The endorsed Republican candidate for New York’s First Congressional District, today scored yet another impressive endorsement, this time from a popular Town Supervisor.

Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell announced his support for Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran Lee Zeldin.

"I am pleased that he has again stepped forward to serve his country,” said Supervisor Russell. “His past distinguished record of service to the United States makes him uniquely qualified to address the issues and meet the challenges that face this great nation. The people of the First Congressional District are fortunate to have this opportunity to choose him as our representative in Congress.”

Zeldin was excited about earning another impressive endorsement.

“Supervisor Russell’s support was something I have sought since the campaign began,” said Zeldin. “He is a beloved leader with deep passion for service in government.”

Russell views Zeldin as the right person to represent Southold’s interests in Washington.

“I heartily support his candidacy and it is my honor to endorse him as my choice to represent our mutual concerns on behalf of my family and the people of Southold Town," said Russell.

Zeldin served as an aide to State Senator Kenneth P. LaValle. The Shirley resident studied at the University at Albany, graduated from Albany Law School, and earned his commission through Army ROTC. He was a paratrooper, prosecutor and magistrate with the 82nd Airborne Division and XVIII Airborne Corps. In the summer of 2006, he was a JAG attorney deployed to Iraq.
