Bishop Supporters Trespass and Deface Billboard at Zeldin Headquarters

"STOP VETS, VOTE BISHOP" Slogan Appears in Yellow Paint Over "Zeldin for Congress” Sign

PATCHOGUE, NY (10/24/2008)(readMedia)-- Lee Zeldin, the Republican and Conservative Party candidate for the First Congressional District, expressed shock and dismay today at anti-veteran graffiti left by vandals supporting incumbent Tim Bishop's re-election efforts.

Before sunrise, Bishop supporters defaced a four foot by eight foot Zeldin billboard with the words, ‘STOP VETS, VOTE BISHOP' (see attachment)

In response to the dirty campaign tactics employed by Bishop supporters, Lee Zeldin will host a press conference at his campaign headquarters Friday.

What: Lee Zeldin Responds to Mudslinging Attacks from Bishop Supporters

Where: Zeldin Campaign Headquarters

When: Friday, October 24 at 5 p.m.

Who: Former CIA agent Gary Berntsen, author of Jawbreaker: The Attack on Bin Laden and Al Qaeda and New York State Chair of Vets for McCain, will be on hand to defend the veterans' community and introduce Zeldin.

Zeldin studied at the University at Albany, graduated from Albany Law School, and earned his commission through Army ROTC. He was a paratrooper, prosecutor and magistrate with the 82nd Airborne Division and XVIII Airborne Corps. In the summer of 2006, he was a JAG attorney deployed to Iraq. The Shirley resident served as an aide to State Senator Ken LaValle. He is currently an attorney at Raiser & Kenniff on Long Island.
