MILTON , MA (06/09/2010)(readMedia)-- Edward Allan, Associate Professor in Criminal Justice and Sociology and Alpha Phi Sigma advisor at Curry College, is pleased to announce that Anthony DiMasi of Waltham, MA was inducted into Alpha Phi Sigma, the National Criminal Justice Honor Society.
The induction ceremony took place on May 16, 2010 at Curry College's Milton Campus. The 22 inductees were joined by their family and friends, Alpha Phi Sigma chapter members, the Criminal Justice and Sociology Department faculty and the Administration.
Established in 1942, Alpha Phi Sigma is the only national honor society for students enrolled in accredited criminal justice programs. Alpha Phi Sigma is recognized as the official National Honor Society for Criminal Justice by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences and is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies.
Undergraduate students who major or minor in criminal justice and have completed at least 75 credits at the end of the Fall semester were eligible for induction into this new chapter. Inductees must have a minimum of 3.2 overall GPA and a 3.2 GPA, in criminal justice courses (on a 4.0 scale), rank in the top 35% of their class, and have completed a minimum of four courses within the criminal justice curriculum.
Curry College is a 131-year old, private, four-year, liberal arts institution located on 135 acres in Milton, MA. Curry extends its educational programs to a continuing education branch campus in Plymouth. Curry offers 20 undergraduate degrees as well as graduate degrees in business, education, criminal justice and nursing, with a combined enrollment of approximately 4,100 students. The student body consists of approximately 2,000 traditional undergraduate students, 1,650 continuing education and 450 graduate students. Curry College students come from 31 states and 7 countries.
