AUGUSTA, ME (10/24/2012)(readMedia)-- On October 16, 2012 Col. (Chaplain) Andrew Gibson, from Pittsfield, Maine, received the 'Giving Voice Award' from Catherine Cryder, Executive Director of Tri-County Mental Health Services at the annual meeting of the Tri-County Mental Health Services Board, Carriage House Plus in Lewiston, Maine.

The Giving Voice Award is given to an individual or group of individuals from the community for extraordinary efforts on behalf of our consumers. Three individuals were nominated for this year's award.

During the presentation Cryder explained "The decision between very different and equally deserving nominations was difficult at best. That said it gives me great pleasure to present the Giving Voice Award to Chaplain Colonel Andrew Gibson!"

Gibson, an Army Chaplain, is Director of the Maine Military and Community Network (MMCN). He has led the way to reach out to families and service members who are deployed and after they return to their communities to insure they have the services that they need to make the family and person whole again.

MMCN is an association of community providers, businesses and individuals that come together to show the community supports veterans and members of the military. There are numerous MMCN committees throughout Maine and Col. Gibson stays actively involved in projects that bring services to veterans.

Following the event Brig. Gen. James D. Campbell, The Adjutant General of Maine, stated "It's fitting that you are recognized for the excellent work you've done and continue to do as an advocate for the mental, spiritual and physical fitness our Soldiers and their families. You remain a first class representative of the Army in the community."
