ASHLAND, OH (10/18/2012)(readMedia)-- Ashland University seniors Grace Bowers, an accounting major from Wadsworth, and Bethany Horrell, an accounting major from Canal Fulton, have received a national scholarship from the Institute of Management Accountants.
Bowers and Horrell both received a $2,500 national scholarship from the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) for the 2012-13 academic year.
Bowers, a 2009 graduate of Highland High School, is the daughter of Hal and Lucy Bowers of Wadsworth, while Horrell is a 2009 graduate of Northwest High School and the daughter of John and Christina Horrell of Canal Fulton. .
Bowers and Horrell both received high praise from Dr. Kris Parsons, chair of the Department of Accounting/IS and faculty adviser to the IMA Student Chapter.
"As leaders in the IMA Student Chapter, Grace and Bethany have provided invaluable leadership to our student organization," Parsons said. "Their organizational and interpersonal skills will serve them well as they transition into the professional world."
Bowers and Horrell were presented with the awards at the IMA Canton Chapter Student Night at Stark State College on Oct. 16 in the new Business and Entrepreneurial Center. Both will be attending the upcoming National IMA Student Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
