Ashley Mancill receives award during Honors Convocation at Wofford College

SPARTANBURG, SC (05/19/2010)(readMedia)-- Wofford senior Ashley Mancill received The L. Harris Chewning Award, the departmental award for English, during Honors Convocation on May 11.
Mancill, an English major with a minor in history, was inducted into Phi Beta Kapp on April 22. She has served as a reporter for the Old Gold & Black student newspaper and as a section editor for the Bohemian yearbook, and was awarded the Wood Scholarship this year for her work in journalism at Wofford. Mancill is co-founder of Wofford's chapter of the National Organization for Women's Campus Action Network. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue a career in editing and publishing. The academic major awards are made by the faculty to seniors recommended by the major departments on the basis of academic achievement, character and intellectual promise. Some of the awards are named in honor of persons who have made significant contributions to the intellectual life of the college.
