SUMTER, SC (09/20/2018) Prize-winning poet Gary Jackson will be featured as USC Sumter's Fall Writer on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. in the Arts and Letters Building Lecture Hall.
Born and raised in Topeka, Kansas, Gary Jackson is the author of the poetry collection "Missing You, Metropolis," which received the 2009 Cave Canem Poetry Prize. His poems have appeared in the prestigious journal "Callaloo" and other high-quality publications such as "Tin House" and "Crab Orchard Review." He has received both a Cave Canem and a Bread Loaf fellowship and serves as an associate poetry editor at the literary magazine "Crazyhorse." Gary Jackson teaches in the Master of Fine Arts program at the College of Charleston.
The Fall Writer Series is free, open to the public and intended for mature audiences. The Series is sponsored by the USC Sumter Division of Arts and Letters, the USC Sumter Cultural Events Committee and the Center for Oral Narrative.
