HOUGHTON, MI (06/03/2013)(readMedia)-- The Women's Leadership Institute (WLI) at Michigan Technological University is designed for high school juniors and helps young women discover and develop traits to grow as leaders.

Among the attendees this year was Ann Backman of Dollar Bay and Brooke Basto of Calumet. 

The WLI features interactive programming to help students develop a leadership vision and life goals and connect those goals to choosing a major and college. WLI also assists women in developing skills to make a difference in the lives of others.

WLI participants meet others from across the state and region, experience residence hall life, and interact with Michigan Tech student mentors.
