Beaver Dam Resident Participates in "Juxtapose" Mount Mary College's Annual Student Designer Fashion Show

MILWAUKEE, WI (06/13/2013)(readMedia)-- MILWAUKEE (June 13, 2013) - Natalie Guse, a fashion student at Mount Mary College and Beaver Dam resident, participated in "Juxtapose," Mount Mary College's 46th annual student designer fashion show. The show, which was held on May 10th at the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee, featured three live runway productions that drew over 1,400 attendees.

"Juxtapose" represented fashion styles in unexpected combinations. Approximately 40 student designers majoring in apparel product development designed the show's 100 garments during the 2012-2013 academic year. Junior and senior designers presented their body of work as a collection. Commentary during the show provided the audience with insight into the designer's philosophy.

Guse collaborated with fellow designer Emily Stark to create a four piece collection inspired by Baroque and Rococo art. Natalie's two pieces included an empire waist dress, a blouse with cutouts, touches of lace and chains and a matching mini skirt.

Prior to the show, an independent jury of fashion design professionals reviewed the garments and offered recommendations on finishing and accessorizing. They also selected award recipients which were announced at the show.

A team of 12 students from the Fashion Show Coordination class served as the show's production team. They partnered with Graphic Design majors in the design of the invitation and learned from event planning professionals who assisted with stage design, music, lighting, choreography and video. They also recruited students to serve as models, dressers, ushers and stage crew, and assisted with publicity of the event.

In addition to the fashion show, CREO, a free gallery exhibit featuring sculpture, paintings and photography by students in fine arts, graphic design and interior design, was open for viewing in the Harley-Davidson Museum's Rumble Room from noon to 10:00 p.m. "SustainTABLE CHAIRity," the annual silent auction of up-cycled furniture pieces, was held in conjunction with CREO to benefit interior design student service work in the community.
