Becker Native Rachel Gilbert Selected to 2012 Midwest All-Region Third Team

SAINT PAUL, MN (06/12/2012)(readMedia)-- Bethel University junior Rachel Gilbert from Becker, Minn., was placed on the 2012 Midwest All-Region Third Team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). In addition to this honor, the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) chose Gilbert, who was on the 2011 MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention team, for the 2012 MIAC All-Conference team. She ended the season with the conference's fifth best batting average (.418), had the third highest on-base percentage (.510), and led the league with most walks (22).

Gilbert was also selected as Bethel University's member of the 2012 MIAC All-Sportsmanship Team as an individual who demonstrates ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition. This honor is a conference-wide sportsmanship initiative that the MIAC announces as the sixth annual All-MIAC Sportsmanship team for softball. The members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team are selected by their coaches and teammates.
