Belmont, N.H., resident Kaitlyn Tuthill graduates from Saint Michael's College, earns a top award

COLCHESTER, VT (05/23/2011)(readMedia)-- Kaitlyn F. Tuthill, daughter of Preston and Lisa Tuthill of Belmont, N.H., earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics and economics from Saint Michael's College, summa cum laude, during ceremonies May 16, 2011, on the campus of the liberal arts residential Catholic college in the Burlington area of Vermont. At a graduation-week banquet, Tuthill, a 2007 graduate of Belmont High School, also was awarded the Elizabeth A. Durick Award, presented annually to "a senior who has made a significant contribution to the Christian goals of Saint Michael's College."
In presenting the Durick Award, Jerome Monachino, associate director of Edmundite Liturgical Music, described Tuthill's deep involvement in the Liturgical Ensemble, for which she played the oboe, and in helping plan Sunday liturgies at the college chapel. "The combination of Kaiti's kindness, generosity and enthusiasm has served our community well," he said, adding that Tuthill "substantially contributed to the group-think, furthering the cohesiveness and success of our liturgies. Her joyful demeanor, integrity and spirit are strong indicators that God is truly active in her life."
James Wall '74 H'07, global managing director of human resources for Deloitte Touche Tomatsu, a multinational corporation with 2,000 partners and more than 100,000 employees, was the featured speaker at the Saint Michael's College 104th commencement. "The value of a liberal-arts education at Saint Michael's College has never been more relevant than it is today – never," he declared. "My Saint Michael's experience taught me how to learn. Nothing is more important in today's world." Wall served on the college's board of trustees for 12 years, four of those as chairman.
Some 435 undergraduates received bachelor's degrees at the ceremony as well as 95 graduate students who earned master's degrees. These numbers include students earning degrees in August 2010 and December 2010, but receiving their diplomas May 16th.
