Berkshire Country Day School Board Of Trustees Names New Board Members

LENOX, MA (06/18/2008)(readMedia)-- Berkshire Country Day School, an independent school serving students in pre-kindergarten through grade nine, is pleased to announce the election of three new members to its Board of Trustees:

David Hosokawa of Great Barrington, MA, a current BCD parent, joins the Board bringing work experiences in the areas of strategic planning, marketing, and finance to the school. Hosokawa was the founder and CEO of TMP Worldwide, the parent company of Monster.com, and before that, CEO of Sunbelt Publishing Company. In addition to his corporate background, Hosokawa has sat on the Board of Directors of the Florida Symphony Orchestra, Norton Board of Business Advisors, Birmingham Southern College, and was a founder and is a current Board member of the SAFI Foundation. David and his wife, Beverly, are very active in humanitarian efforts in Africa. Hosokawa holds a B.A. from St. Olaf College.

Fran Ruthven of Stockbridge, MA, is a local area Interim Minister Specialist and past BCD parent. As a minister and through her many work experiences, Ruthven is prepared to offer the Board skills in leadership, collaboration, and inclusion. Ruthven has served as Vice President of the Interim Ministry Network Board, a Member of the Executive Committee on the Women's Interfaith Institute Board, and on Construct Inc.'s Board of Directors. Ruthven has a BA in Religion from the University of Georgia, a Masters of Divinity from Harvard University Divinity School, and Master of Theology from Columbia Theological Seminary.

Eleanore Velez of Lee, MA is a current BCD parent and active volunteer, and is currently employed at Berkshire Community College as a multicultural admissions and community outreach counselor. A native of Mexico, Eleanore has spent much of her adult life advocating for diversity and cross-cultural understanding in the workplace, in schools, and in our culture. Velez offers the Board a unique perspective in understanding the importance of diversity and is an excellent resource through her connections to local agencies and schools. Velez has a history of board participation. She is currently a Vestry Member of Trinity Church in Lenox, a Board Member of the Berkshire Immigrant Center, and Board Member of the New World Fund. Velez holds a B.A. from Mount Holyoke College.

"Each of these board members brings unique outside experiences to our school and will be valuable assets as we work together to build BCD's future."

In addition to Sion Boney (Hillsdale, NY) as board president, the board has approved the appointments of Donna Elmendorf (Stockbridge, MA) as vice president, Susan Freniere (Great Barrington, MA) as treasurer, and Lynn Campana (Lenox, MA) as secretary.
