Berkshire Country Day School Has 25 Students Recognized for High Scores on the 2013 National Latin Exam
LENOX, MA (04/12/2013)(readMedia)-- Berkshire Country Day School, an independent school for students in preschool through ninth grade, is pleased to announce that 25 Upper School students were awarded certificates and medals for their high scores on the 2013 National Latin Exam. The NLE exam is sponsored both by the American Classical League and the National Junior Classical League. More than 154,000 students from all 50 states and 15 foreign countries took the test in March.
For the Introduction to Latin Exam, the following awards were earned by seventh graders:
Ribbon and Achievement Certificate: Genevieve Franck, Great Barrington. Achievement Certificates: Michelle Lipson, Great Barrington, and Ruby Merritt, Lenox
For the Latin I National Exam, the following awards were earned by seventh grade students:
Gold Summa Cum Laude: Alex Lederman, Pittsfield; Cameron Sweener, Lenox; Evan Sylbert, Monterey, and Ben Zoeller, New Lebanon, NY. Mr. Lederman and Mr. Zoeller were also recognized for receiving perfect scores on the exam. Silver Maxima Cum Laude: Noah Beckwith and Stephen Taglieri, Pittsfield; and Julian Lindenmaier, Stockbridge. Magna Cum Laude: Nicolas Adams, Canaan, NY; Bella Currie, Pittsfield; and Clement Keats, Ghent, NY.
For the Latin II National Exam, the following awards were earned by eighth grade students:
Magna Cum Laude: Jesse Kramer and Jackson Rich, Pittsfield; Asa Mervis, Great Barrington; Cooper Parker, Hudson, NY; and Emily Yeager, Lenox. Cum Laude: Jack Gibson, Lenox; Alec Goffin, Great Barrington; and Teddy Michaels, Richmond.
For the Latin III National Exam, the following awards were earned by ninth grade students:
Gold Summa Cum Laude: Sam Kittredge, Dalton; and Emma Lezberg and Jacob Lezberg, Pittsfield. Magna Cum Laude: Elise Ghitman, Ashley Falls.
BCD students study Latin from Grade 6 through Grade 9 with teacher Eugénie Fawcett of Tyringham, MA.
