Berkshire Country Day School Holds 2nd Annual "Fore" Education Golf Tournament
Money raised to benefit BCD's scholarship fund
LENOX, MA (05/08/2007)(readMedia)-- Berkshire Country Day School, an independent school serving pre-school through secondary grades, will be holding its Second Annual "Fore" Education Golf Tournament on May 21 at the Country Club of Pittsfield to raise money for its financial aid program. Last year’s golf tournament, also held at the Country Club of Pittsfield, raised over $25,000 for BCD’s financial aid program thanks to almost 80 sponsors and 94 participants. Over 30 percent of BCD students receive financial aid – well above the national average. Last year, BCD awarded over $700,000 in financial aid.
“We are extremely appreciative of all the local businesses and individuals – in and outside of the BCD family – who join with us to support this important event,” says Rob Peterson, event co-chair and Head of School.. “Our goal is to make a BCD education accessible to as many students in our community as possible who might otherwise not be able to afford the tuition. We hope this year’s golf outing will raise even more money to allow us to impact an even greater number of students in the coming years.”
The event, chaired by BCD parent Suzanne Merritt, begins at 12:00 Noon with lunch and a tee-off at 1:00 pm. The day includes lunch, golf, dinner and an awards ceremony. Extra features include pre-tee off stretching, chair massage, and equipment demonstrations.
This year’s Tournament Sponsors are Blantyre and the Azimuth Trust. The Lead Sponsor is Douglass-Winthrop Advisors.
Special hole in one prizes include a golf weekend in Myrtle Beach from Wheeler & Taylor Insurance, free tuition for a year, and golf for two at the Fishers Island Golf Course, ranked #17 according to Golf Digest magazine.
