Berkshire Country Day School presents "The Tempest" this Friday, March 2, 2018

LENOX/STOCKBRIDGE, MA (02/28/2018) (readMedia)-- Berkshire Country Day School sixth and seventh graders are proud to present William Shakespeare's The Tempest on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 7 p.m. at the Winthrop Theatre, 45 West Street in Lenox, MA.

Directed by BCD's theater director, Lia Russell-Self, the show is set on a far-away island. Prospero, a duke banished from his home, has taken charge of this magical island and the strange creatures that inhabit the land, including his faithful right-hand spirit, Ariel, the island native, Caliban, and Prospero's own daughter, Miranda. One day, Prospero spots a ship from his hometown, carrying his own brother, Alonso, the man who banished him. Prospero casts a storm to bring Alonso to him and to seek revenge, but not all goes according to plan. The two men learn more about themselves through this tempest than they could have ever imagined.

With original music composed by BCD students, The Tempest run time is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Tickets are $5, and all proceeds go to support Berkshire Country Day School's Theater Department.

Now in its 72nd year, Berkshire Country Day School is a two-year-old through Grade 9 independent school voted Best Private School in the Berkshires in 2017 by readers of The Berkshire Eagle.
