Berkshire Country Day Schools Elects Five New Trustees
LENOX, MA (07/03/2013)(readMedia)-- Berkshire Country Day School, an independent school for students in preschool through ninth grade, is pleased to announce the election of five new members to its Board of Trustees:
Dan Lipson is the CEO of Camp Jam LLC, a music education company with summer camp programs in twenty cities in the U.S. and Canada. Camp Jam also produces events for Hard Rock Resorts. Prior to starting Camp Jam in 2004, Mr. Lipson was the CEO of Leading Edge Promotions, Inc., a sports promotions company specializing in youth programs. It was acquired in 2007 by KR Industries, Inc. During the Internet technology boom, he founded causelink.com, an online auction for nonprofits. In 1993, Mr. Lipson was cofounder/CEO of ExL Corp., a licensed merchandise catalog and television projection company including NASCAR, Indy Car, NJRA, and Ducks Unlimited. The company was acquired by Genesis Direct, now part of QVC, in 1993. Before launching his entrepreneurial career, Dan worked for ESPA as GM of Home Entertainment. An alumnus of Bard College at Simon's Rock, Dan and his wife, Sue, live in Great Barrington, MA, with two (current students at BCD) of their four children.
Colin Mathews is the President and CEO of readMedia, Inc., a software company that allows organizations, especially in higher education, to recognize and publicize the achievements of their members. Previously, Mr. Mathews was VP of Business Development at Contract Network Corporations and Senior Director of Strategic Development at Into Networks. Since the early 1990s, Colin has worked with companies that help professionals be more successful by putting technology to work for them. Mr. Mathews has a BA in English and History from the State University of New York at Binghamton and an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business. He has been a member of BCD's Admission Marketing Committee for several years. He and his wife, Stephanie Iverson, a past chair of the BCD Parents' Association, have been members of the BCD community for nine years. They live in Lenox with their three sons, all students at BCD.
Alli Sheehan is the Community Outreach Liaison for Sheehan Health Group, a network of skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers, home care services, and consulting and management groups in Massachusetts. The Sheehan Health Group is the leading independently owned and operated senior care company in Massachusetts. Mrs. Sheehan has a BA in Communication Disorders from UMass Amherst, and she is currently completing a Master's in Speech and Language Pathology. She has served on the Board of the Colonial Theatre and is now serving on the Board for Berkshire Theatre Group as a member of the Educational Outreach Committee. She has co-chaired the BTG Annual Gala for the last two years. Mrs. Sheehan has been a BCD parent for the past nine years. She chaired the ArtSoiree Committee in the past, and last year co-chaired the school's Annual Fund. She and her husband, Patrick, will be moving their family back to the Boston area this summer.
Koethi Zan has a strong legal background representing writers, actors, directors, and producers in television, film, theater, and publishing. Ms. Zan spent fifteen years practicing entertainment law both in private practice and in-house business and legal affairs positions. Between 2004 and 2012, she was the Senior Vice President for Business and Legal Affairs and Deputy General Counsel at MTV, where she had legal oversight of reality, scripted, and documentary television programming and production. Ms. Zan earned a BS in Economics from Birmingham-Southern College and a JD from Yale Law School. She is the author of a crime novel, The Never List, which has just been published. She and her husband, Stephen Metcalf, reside in Columbia County and have two daughters who attend BCD.
Andrea Patel, an educator at BCD since 1995, is a Kindergarten teacher. Mrs. Patel previously taught preschool and has served on various committeees. She received her BA from Oberlin College and her MEd from Lesley College in Cambridge. She and her husband, Dan, are the parents of four grown children and reside in Great Barrington.
Officers of the Board at Berkshire Country Day School are Paige Orloff, President; alumnus Theodore Glockner, Vice President; Christopher Ferrone, Treasurer; and Marianna Poutasse, Secretary.
