Bernardo Cuadra Receives Abraham Smith Award at Western New England College School of Law

SPRINGFIELD, MA (06/09/2010)(readMedia)-- Bernardo G. Cuadra was the recipient of two awards during the Western New England College School of Law's 2010 Commencement, including the school's highest honor. Cuadra received the Norman Prance Award and the Abraham Smith Award.

The Prance Award is considered the highest award bestowed by the School of Law. Norman Prance was one of the most respected and admired members of the law faculty. When his teaching career was abruptly cut short by illness, the School of Law faculty established the Norman Prance Award in his honor. The recipient is chosen by the members of the full-time faculty and is awarded to that member of the graduating class who in terms of grade point average, classroom participation, and extracurricular activities, best reflects the educational and professional qualities exemplified by Professor Prance.

The Smith award is given to graduates who achieve distinction in Probate-related subjects. Judge Abraham Smith was both a respected jurist and an admired member of the part-time faculty at Western New England College School of Law.

Cuadra graduated magna cum laude. He served as Managing Editor of the Western New England Law Review, President of the Family Law Association, and Day Vice President of the Student Bar Association.
