DECORAH, IA (04/30/2013)(readMedia)-- Luther junior Kate Berner of Whitehouse, Texas, was awarded the E-Club Entrepreneurial Leadership Prize at the 28th annual Luther College Entrepreneurial Showcase, held Tuesday, March 18 in Luther's Peace Dining Room. During the program, other awards and scholarships announced included the Accenture Scholarship and the Erdman Prize for Entrepreneurship.
The E-Club Leadership Prize is awarded to a current Entrepreneur-Club member in recognition of leadership contributions during their time at Luther, particularly in the past year. Club members nominate and participate in the selection of the winner along with the E-Club faculty advisor.
"In the future, I would like to become a professional organizer and potentially start my own organization company. I'd like to use a portion of the scholarship to fund my further education regarding professional organization," Berner said, "I am incredibly grateful for the support from the Economics and Business departments and intend to make their investment in me worth their while."
Berner, daughter of Paul and Cathy Berner, is a 2010 graduate of Centerville High School. She is majoring in business management at Luther with a communication minor.
Since the initial program in 1986, the goal of the Entrepreneurial Showcase has been to serve as an annual forum for students, faculty, alumni and friends of the college who are interested in and support entrepreneurship.
