Best Cake Creation Titles Won at the Iowa State Fair

DES MOINES, IA (08/14/2015)(readMedia)-- Top professional and amateur cake decorators vied for top honors in the Cake Decorating competition, judged Monday, prior to the start of the 2015 Iowa State Fair.

The cake decorated by Anna Moreno of Coralville won top honors as Best of Show. Sweet to Eat Bakery and Cake of Ankeny won the Sweepstakes award. Judy Cozard of Des Moines earned Reserve Sweepstakes.

Entries were judged on execution, difficulty, general appearance, neatness, originality, use of edible applications and use of color.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 228 divisions, 850 classes and over 10,600 entries at this year's Fair. Due to the large number of classes, Food Department judging begins prior to the Fair in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Wells Blue Bunny.
