SCHENECTADY, NY (10/29/2024) (readMedia)-- Best Companies, parent company of Best Cleaners, CRDN Restoration and Best Logistics, today announced the completion of a significant portion of their multi-year modernization and beautification project that is also reducing environmental impact and enhancing operations.
The nearly $1 million, multi-phase project kicked off in the Fall of 2021 and includes new enhanced-efficiency cleaning equipment, energy-saving lighting and HVAC systems, property beautification projects such as fencing and signage and culminates with the commissioning of two phases of a new 129+ kw solar installation.
These improvements have resulted in:
Reduced environmental impact: The solar system generates clean, renewable energy, while the wet-based cleaning system eliminates the need for petroleum-based products, reducing pollution and waste.
Cost Savings: The solar installation specifically represents a savings of nearly $700K in energy expenses over the life of the system.
Increased efficiency: The new lighting and HVAC systems have improved energy efficiency, resulting in lower operating costs and a more comfortable working environment for employees.
Job creation: The project has also created 25 new jobs in the company's contents restoration business.
"This project represents a significant milestone for Best Companies as we prepare to celebrate 20 years in business in the Capital Region in 2025," said Tim McCann, Owner and CEO at Best Companies. "We are committed to being a responsible corporate citizen, and these upgrades are a testament to our dedication to sustainability, environmental stewardship and continued investment in our community."
"We are so proud to see area businesses embrace the future and utilize a mix of green energy sources that are right for them," says Pete Bardunias, Senior Vice President, Capital Region Chamber. "To think of how much the industry has changed since Mr. McCann founded the company nearly 20 years ago, and to know that they have such a positive outlook for the future, demonstrates that forward thinking companies in our region can position themselves to be industry leaders as we approach the mid 21st Century and beyond."
The project, which began in Fall 2021, was a collaborative effort between Best Companies and American Energy Care, Inc. (AEC). Over a span of many years, the two companies have collaborated on other efficiency projects which paved the way for the current, larger endeavor.
??President and CEO of the New York Energy Research and Development Authority Doreen M. Harris said, "NYSERDA is proud to have supported this modernization project, and we applaud Best Companies and AEC Solar Energy Corp and American Energy Care for their commitment to advancing renewable energy strategies. This solar installation is a great example of how projects such as this can transform a business, have a meaningful impact on the community it serves, and contribute to a healthier New York for all."
"We believe that other businesses can learn from our collaboration and take similar steps to reduce their costs, invest and grow their self-reliance and value, and reduce their environmental impact while being a positive impact to their teams and community," said Jamie Thompson, President and CEO of American Energy Care and AEC Solar. "By investing in sustainable practices, companies can improve their bottom line, create a healthier environment, and contribute to a more sustainable future."
