Beth Rogowsky of Danville, Pa., is the first graduate of Wilkes University’s doctor of education program.

WILKES-BARRE, PA (09/13/2010)(readMedia)-- Beth Rogowsky of Danville, Pa., is the first graduate of Wilkes University's doctor of education program. She completed her degree in educational leadership in September of 2010. The title of her dissertation is "The Impact of Fast ForWord on Sixth Grade Students' Use of Standard Edited American English."

Rogowsky spent 15 years teaching for the Danville Area School District. This fall she will take a leave from her teaching position to complete a postdoctoral study at the Center for Molecular and Behavioral Nueroscience at Rutger's University. There she will be conducting educational translational research on the writing skills of entering freshmen who are required to take two semesters of developmental writing before being allowed to take the required undergraduate writing courses. This will compliment her doctoral studies in brain-based learning, language acquisition and grammar instruction.

Rogowsky received both a bachelor of science in secondary education and a master of science in instructional technology from Bloomsburg University. She also earned a master of arts in teaching from Marygrove College. Rogowsky is the daughter of Judy Rogowsky and the late Stephen Rogowsky. She is engaged to Jacques Dompier of Baltimore, Md., with a wedding planned for 2011.

Wilkes University's doctor of education in educational leadership is a post-master's program that capitalizes on the University's strengths in graduate-level education programs in educational technology and leadership. Core courses are designed to meet challenges faced by educational leaders. The program is built around a core of applied research embedded in courses that will provide continuous opportunities for current and future educational leaders to apply knowledge in the classroom and in the field to improve education for all students.
