LA MIRADA, CA (05/27/2014)(readMedia)-- Amber Hollinger was a dual-threat student-athlete for the Griffins, and now she will compete as a thrower for Biola's Golden State Athletic Conference champion track and field program.

Hollinger participated in field events and played basketball at Los Alamitos High School, and she has spent the last seven years honing her abilities on fields throughout California.

She finished among the top 10 throwers in the CIF Southern Section Division I in the 2014 discus toss, which was her first season competing in discus.

Her career best in the discus in 123 feet, while her personal best in shot put ranges at 32-feet-4-inches.

"Amber has great spirit and energy," said Head Coach Jonathan Zimmerman. "She just loves Biola and will be a great fit for the team for sure. She has a super disposition."

Hollinger will enter the school and begin her training this fall. She will major in elementary education.
