Blair Frank of Walnut Creek Wins Hosokawa Journalism Award

WALLA WALLA, WA (04/09/2013)(readMedia)-- Blair Frank of Walnut Creek, Calif., recently won a Hosokawa Award in the Opinion/Editorial category. The award was delivered by Terry Tang, deputy editorial page editor for the New York Times. Tang visited the Whitman College campus to give a speech and distribute the awards on March 28.

Frank's article was featured in the Pioneer, Whitman College's student-run newspaper. In the column, he aimed to push Whitman's student government in the direction of providing better student engagement opportunities.

Frank is the son of Debbie Frank and Ed Hanley from Walnut Creek. He is a 2009 graduate of The Athenian School.

At Whitman, Frank is a senior English major.
