MANCHESTER, NH (04/10/2013)(readMedia)-- Saint Anselm College senior Sara Duane of Braintree, Mass., led a service trip to Orland, Maine during her spring break to assist a community in need.
The nursing major and her group of dedicated students worked together to cut wood, restructure houses, cook, and help in a daycare.
One hundred and two Saint Anselm students participated in this years Spring Break Alternative trips to various parts of the United States as part of the college's service and Solidarity Missions program. The groups traveled to Detroit, Mich., Houston, Texas, Manchester, N.H., Ridgley, Md., Aberdeen, Miss., Philadelphia, Penn., Vanceburg, Ky., and Phoenix, Ariz. During these trips students repaired homes, served food, painted and cleaned, and did whatever necessary to support their site.
The Service and Solidarity Missions Program consists of student-led service trips during winter, spring, and summer breaks, overseen by the Office of Campus Ministry.
