Brenda Lee Larkey named Iowan of the Day

DES MOINES, IA (07/20/2018) (readMedia)-- Des Moines, IA- The Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation and Cookies Food Products are pleased to present Brenda Lee Larkey of Low Moor as an Iowan of the Day for the 2018 Iowa State Fair.

Brenda Lee continually goes above and beyond in her community to make it a better place for everyone. From being a volunteer softball coach to organizing a benefit auction, she has done it all! Brenda Lee was instrumental in starting "Presidents Row," where trees are planted in Platt Park to honor the past presidents.

Brenda has served on the Camanche Days board for the past 34 years and was a 4 time president. She started the diaper derby, founded and advised the Camanche Days Teen Board, started Camanche Days King and Queen, and revamped the sponsorship festival fundraiser. Brenda Lee has also served for 10 years on the Low Moor City Council and was a representative for Clinton County on the Crimestoppers committee.

Brenda's day of recognition will be on Saturday, August 18 at the 2018 Iowa State Fair. She will be recognized with a presentation on the Anne & Bill Riley stage at 1:15 p.m. Along with accommodations at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown, she will receive a gift bag, Grandstand tickets and use of the Iowan of the Day golf cart.

Founded in 1997, the Iowan of the Day program allows the Blue Ribbon Foundation to recognize Iowa's most outstanding individuals. The program continues to honor Iowan's across the state who have made a difference in the lives of others, while upholding the characteristics associated with Iowa- dependability, integrity, hard work and sense of community.
