ST. LOUIS, MO (06/13/2012)(readMedia)-- Missouri Baptist University's Alumni Association recently honored outstanding alumni who have made a significant impact in their communities and made efforts to improve society. Honorees were selected by the Alumni Board of Governors and recognized at MBU's Alumni Chapel service.
Brian Kruger of St. Louis, Mo., received the 2012 Educator of the Year award. Kruger graduated from Wayne State College in Nebraska with a B.S. in Marketing. Kruger worked for the next 22 years in the business world for major companies such as IBM Corporation, Siemens AG and Cisco Systems in various sales, marketing and management roles. Kruger left his career in business in 2004 to pursue a calling to be a high school teacher in an urban setting.
Kruger obtained both a Master of Science in Education in 2006 and an MBA in 2007 from Missouri Baptist University. He is currently in his eighth year of teaching at Roosevelt High School in the St. Louis Public School District as a business education instructor where he also serves as the department chairman for career and technical education.
Kruger's sacrificial decision to turn from his successful career to become a teacher has been featured in a cover story in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch as well as on national television on the PBS NewsHour program.
