SCOTIA, NEW YORK (01/04/2023) (readMedia)-- WHO: Major General Ray Shields, the Adjutant General of New York, will promote Brigadier General Denise Donnell, the first woman to command the New York Air National Guard, to the two-star rank of major general.

WHAT: A Clifton Park resident, General Donnell has commanded the Air National Guard as a one-star brigadier general since April 2, 2022. The promotion ceremony will be attended by the men and women of the 109th Airlift Wing, where General Donnell served as commander of the maintenance group, and other New York Air National Guard leaders.

WHEN: Ceremony begins at 3 p.m. Friday, January 6.

Media planning to attend must arrive by 2 p.m. for security clearance. Members of the press must have a drivers license and press pass for access.The drivers license number must be provided to the public affairs office ahead of time.
