Brigadier General James D. Campbell Announces New Assistant Adjutant General for Maine Army National Guard

AUGUSTA, ME (01/09/2015)(readMedia)-- Augusta, Maine – Brig. Gen. James D. Campbell announced that Colonel (Promotable) Michael J. Bouchard is appointed the Assistant Adjutant General for the Maine Army National Guard effective January 8, 2015.
"Col. (Promotable) Mike Bouchard is a highly accomplished professional officer," Campbell said. "He brings to this position extensive and valuable experience within the state, at the national level, and in combat in Afghanistan. I am excited to have him back home in Maine and on our leadership team."
Bouchard is a Westbrook native, who graduated from Norwich University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and was commissioned through ROTC as an active duty Army engineer officer in May 1985. Bouchard joined the Maine Army National Guard in 1989 after his active duty service obligation and later became an active duty Soldier again in 1996 to serve at the National Guard Bureau until January 2015.
Bouchard's most recent assignments include the National Guard Bureau's director of installations, logistics and environment and deputy director of strategic plans and policy.
"It is a tremendous honor to be asked to lead the Maine Army National Guard as the Assistant Adjutant General, Army" Bouchard said. "The coming years will be challenging, but I'm looking forward to meeting and overcoming those challenges."
Bouchard holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Troy State University and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. His military education includes the Engineer Officers Basic and Advanced Courses, Combined Arms Services Staff School, Command and General Staff Officer Course and U.S. Army War College.
The official promotion ceremony to brigadier general for Bouchard will be held at the Hall of Flags at the capitol on February 6, from 3 to 4 p.m. The public and media are welcome to attend.
