Bristol Student Katherine Ash Wins Award at University of Vermont Commencement

BURLINGTON, VT (06/11/2010)(readMedia)-- Bristol resident Katherine Ash, who graduated from the University of Vermont this year with a double major in political science and French, is the 2010 winner of the Keith M. Miser Leadership Award. The award recognizes the student who has been successful in campus leadership endeavors. 

Ash's activities span her four years as a student and include leadership and involvement in the Inter Residence Association, Alternative Spring Break, the Student Government Association, the President's Commission on the Status of Women, the Next Step Social Justice Retreat, and the General Education Task Force.  During her senior year she served as vice president of the Student Government Association.

The award was announced at the University of Vermont's 206th Commencement ceremonies on May 23, where some 2,411 students were awarded a variety of bachelor's degrees, an estimated 514 advanced degrees and certificates were awarded by the UVM Graduate College and approximately 102 women and men took the oath of Hippocrates following the awarding of their M.D. degrees.
