HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (03/29/2011)(readMedia)-- On March 3, 2011, John Brittain McKenzie, a sophomore at Hampden-Sydney College, was elected Chairman of the College Activities Committee for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Brit served on the CAC for the last two years and served as Secretary of Rotaract (a service organization). He is a member of the Garnet & Grey (student tour guides), the Fly Fishing Club, the Clay Target Club, Catholic Campus Ministries, and the social fraternity Sigma Chi. A government major, Brit is a graduate of Subiaco Academy and is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Ken McKenzie of Rogers.

The CAC, an arm of student government, plans social entertainment for students in the form of dances, concerts, movies, and other activities. Student government, first introduced at the College in 1886, is an historic and respected institution.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the needs of young men.
